When can I see the Stingrays?
The Stingrays of Hamelin Bay are wild creatures and we do not encourage feeding. There is not a specific time they are around although they are very popular in the summer months along the shores near our boat ramp. They do like the calm waters of the summer season so viewing in other months cannot be guaranteed and is very weather dependant.
Are there Hot Showers?
We have three amenities blocks with hot showers including 2 disabled access amenities, two laundry facilities with washers and dryers and also a campers kitchen with microwave, kettle, toaster, electric hotplates and gas burners for your cooking. These facilities are included in your price.
How much for the laundry?
Our washer machines are $5 per load (either $1 or $2 coins) and our clothes dryers are $5 per load (either $1 or $2 coins) for 30 minutes of drying.
Can I arrive after hours?
As our Reception closes at 5pm we have a “Late Arrivals with a booking” box situated on our front verandah at Reception where we will leave your map for after hours check in if you have a booking.
How many people can I have on my site?
We allow a maximum of 8 guests per site, 2 cars per site are permitted on large van sites, 1 car permitted for all other sites.
Do you have food available?
The Kiosk sells ice creams, coffee, snacks, basic supplies, bait & ice creams. BBQ packs and fresh bread are available in our Peak Seasons.
Do I need to bring water?
The water at Hamelin bay is sourced from a bore within our parks boundaries. We recommend our water is boiled before drinking. We sell drinking water at our Kiosk & Reception.
Do you have a Defibrillator?
Yes, we have a defibrillator located just outside of our amenities block, right across from the Kiosk at the beach end of the park. If you need help after hours, you can easily contact our caretakers using the free courtesy phones at the Kiosk or Reception - no charge at all!
Can we have a campfire?
Fires are permitted here usually between 1st May to 1st November. We may amend these dates due to weather conditions so it is always good to check before coming. Fires are permitted between the hours of 5pm to 10pm. We sell firewood at our Kiosk & Reception in these times. Fires must be contained in fully enclosed fire pits. We do not provide fire pits. All camp fires are to be fully extinguished by 10pm with water please. Containers are available throughout the park for your coals, do not leave any coals onsite. Campfires are not permitted at Cottages and Cabins, please see reception for the communal fire pit location.
Can we bring our boat?
When making a booking, please let our reception staff know if you intend to bring your boat so we can match a site suitable for your needs. We normally allow for one car per site, so if there is not room for your boat as well, this may have to be parked off site.
What time is Check in?
Our Check in times for Camping are from 12 midday and Cabins/Cottages are from 2pm. Check out is strictly by 10am.
Can we drive on the beach at Hamelin?
No cars are allowed at Hamelin Bay Beach. There is a track which is 500 metres past Bushby Road turn off on Caves Road about 5kms from our Park which leads you down onto the beach. This track is for experienced 4WD only as it gets very rough and rocky. The sand at Boranup Beach can be quite soft as well.
Where can I fish at Hamelin?
Fishing is popular right off the beach here. They catch a selection of herring and whiting as well as crayfish off shore in the season. Bait is available to purchase at our Kiosk. There is a small boat ramp otherwise Augusta does have a Marina for launching.
Do we need to bring Linen?
All our Ocean View Cottages, Beach Cottages and Park Cabins with Ensuites are equipped with all your linen, pillows, doonas and bath towels for the maximum number of guests allowed. Our Standard Park Cabins have linen & 2 towels provided for the double bed, the bunk beds only have a pillow and mattress protector supplied, guests may bring their own linen/sleeping bag or you can hire a set of linen for an extra charge.
Do you have a minimum booking?
Easter Long weekend requires a minimum of 4 nights in all accommdation. Other long weekends require a minimum of 3 nights in all accommodation. All other times we prefer a 2 night stay in cabins and cottages.
Do you have mobile reception?
There is limited WiFi and phone reception on the Telstra network available here at Hamelin Bay Holiday Park. You may also receive texting at the beach through the Telstra network. It is a short 2kms drive out of our Park to receive mobile signal. There is no TV reception within the Park unless you bring your own satellite dish.
Can we bring our cat or dog on holiday to Hamelin Bay?
Unfortunately, as our park is located within the Leeuwin Naturaliste National Park, we are unable to accept domestic pets. You can try these pet friendly caravan parks located nearby in Augusta (Flinders Bay Caravan Park- (08) 9780 5636 or Westbay Retreat - 0438 581 776)
Do you have a Dump Point?
Hamelin Bay Holiday Park has a dump point facility suitable for portable cartridge's only. We ask our guests to use this service respectfully.
Is there shade at Hamelin Bay Holiday Park?
Hamelin Bay is within the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park and leased from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation adn Attractions (DBCA). The Park is a natural bush park and as such has many beautiful peppermint trees.The DBCA and lessees monitor the condition of all trees within the Park on a regular basis, however, you should be aware that on occassions branches do fall from these trees. Due to this being a natural occurrence neither DBCA nor the Lease holders insurance will cover any damage caused by such an incident. It is important that you are insured for any such eventuality.
